Iwobi has admitted he wants Fulham to sign Nelson this summer and claims some of his team-mates are trying to convince his old Arsenal colleague to return to Craven Cottage. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan with the Cottagers, scoring once and assisting another goal before his campaign was brought to an end in December before he was forced to undergo hamstring surgery.Â

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Nelson still has a contract with Arsenal that runs for another two years, having endeared himself to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta and the club's fans with some notable performances towards the end of the 2022-23 season. The forward notably scored a dramatic winner in a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth that kept the club's Premier League title challenge alive, but his path to the first-team squad is more blocked than ever with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Noni Madueke, Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz all vying for spots in attack.

WHAT IWOBI SAID
Iwobi recently told : “His style of play is very explosive. He is very sharp. I just hope that he returns fit and healthy as soon as possible.Â
“It would be nice for him to come back to Fulham, because we know the sort of player he is. I can try to be an agent – but I am not!Â
“There is a specific group chat – I am not going to name names – but a lot of people are pressuring him, trying to find out what is going on! Me, I am not one of them!”

WHAT NEXT FOR NELSON?
Fulham were reported to be in advanced negotiations with Arsenal over a deal for Nelson last month and Craven Cottage still seems like his most likely next home. He played eight games with Iwobi during their time together at the Emirates Stadium before the Nigeria international left in 2023.
